Chevy Chase, born Cornelius Crane Chase, is an American actor, producer, writer, and comedian. Born in New York on the 8th of October 1943, Chevy Chase rose to fame after joining National Lampoon. Having made a name for himself, Chase then became an integral member of the Saturday Night Live cast, earning plaudits for his ‘Weekend Update’ feature. He was nominated for five Emmy awards and won three in his capacity as writer and performer.
Chase earned two Golden Globe nominations for his performance in the 1978 movie Foul Play, and he has starred in a series of hit productions since. Notable titles include the five movies that makeup National Lampoon’s Vacation series, Fletch (1985) and Fletch Lives (1989), Caddyshack (1980), Seems Like Old Times (1980), Spies Like Us (1985), Three Amigos (1986) and Memoirs of an Invisible Man (1992). More recently, Chase appeared in Orange County in 2002 and Hot Tub Time Machine in 2010.
As well as being known for his acting skills, Chevy Chase is also a seasoned presenter, and he hosted the Academy Awards in 1987 and 1988. He also had his own talk show, The Chevy Chase Show, in 1993. On the small screen, Chase has appeared in several shows, including NBC’s Community, on which he played the role of Pierce Hawthorne from 2009 to 2014.
