Bat Soup Coronavirus Conspiracy Theories

A Chinese travel blogger Wang Mengyun briefly became the center of wild coronavirus conspiracy theories after she was found consuming bat soup in one of her videos.

Bats are known to harbor extremely lethal viruses and government travel agencies around the world warn of consuming bats and other ‘bush meats’ for this very reason.

The Chinese government even forced the blogger to apologize. However, she pointed out that the bat soup video was made in 2016. That’s a full three years before the epidemic even surfaced, thus putting another one of the wild coronavirus conspiracy theories to rest. She did not even shoot the video in China. In fact, she made the video on the Pacific island of Palau.
